INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE SUPPORT PROGRAM

The SWAS Individual Athlete Support Program (IASP) is designed to support young athletes living in the South West on a State or National pathway to reach their full potential.

The program is intended to provide a holistic approach to improve the athlete’s physical ability as well as their personal development providing resources and support to individual athletes to assist with their sporting development in the daily training environment. 

The program is offered annually to talented athletes whose sport is not covered by the Academy’s current Partner Sport Programs of AFL, Cricket, Hockey and Netball.

Athletes are selected for the IASP program by meeting an established criteria in partnership with the relevant WA Sporting Associations.

To be eligible for the Individual Athlete Support Program you must reside in the South West, be aged 15 to 18 (as the 1st July) and excelling in your sport.

Individual Athlete Support Programs Applications open and close during the month of April. Interviews as required occur in May and our Programs commence July 1 through to 30 June. Athletes offered a place in the program sign an Athlete Agreement for up to 12 months.

IASP CATEGORIES:
Potential International – Athlete has been selected to represent Australia in an international event as an individual athlete or as part of a national junior team.
Emerging International – Athlete has been selected to a national junior talent squad program, national junior team training squad and/or as a reserve for a national junior team. Athlete has the potential to compete in an international event in the next one to three years.
National – Athlete has been selected/qualified to represent Western Australia in a national junior event as an individual athlete or as part of a State team.
Potential National – Athlete has been selected in a State talent squad program, State team training squad and/or as a reserve for a State team. The athlete has the potential to compete in a national event in the next one to three years.
