Athletes at the South West Academy of Sport are set to receive increased support for their respiratory health through a new partnership.

Asthma WA has joined SWAS to enhance the wellbeing of the region’s rising sports stars facing respiratory health issues. With nearly 60 years empowering West Australians with education and support to help them breathe better, Asthma WA offers services to those with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to help them live fulfilling lives.

The partnership with SWAS is a significant milestone, with the organisations coming together to address the unique needs of athletes facing respiratory health challenges. SWAS will integrate Asthma WA’s expertise into its programs, offering athletes access to testing, education and support from experts. Asthma WA chief executive Anne Hallam expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration.

“We are excited to partner with the South West Academy of Sport to bridge the gaps for athletes facing respiratory health challenges,” she said. “Our commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with SWAS’ dedication to athlete wellbeing, and together, we aim to ensure better outcomes for athletes.”

Asthma WA will deliver best practice education and clinical support tailored to the needs of athletes through the partnership, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to thrive in their sporting endeavours while managing respiratory health conditions.

Ms Hallam said the organisation genuinely cared about its clients and was committed to providing inclusive support.
“This partnership exemplifies our dedication to empowering athletes to overcome respiratory health challenges and achieve their full potential,” she said.
