Surfers - Bronte Macaulay and Jacob Willcox

It’s been a memorable month for former South West Academy of Sport surfers Bronte Macaulay and Jacob Willcox.

Firstly, Gracetown product and second generation pro surfer Macaulay made headlines when she was crowned CT Rookie of the Year at the World Surf League’s annual awards, an event which celebrates the achievements of the planet’s best surfers during the 2017 season.

And to top it off, WSL Championship Tour surfer Macaulay and WSL Qualifying Series surfer Willcox became the first two surfers to be awarded scholarships with WAIS.

The scholarships were made possible after Surfing WA and WA Institute of Sport formed a partnership based on surfing being confirmed as a sport for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

You can catch Macaulay in action in the South West when she competes in the Margaret River Pro from April 11 to 22.
