Don't miss out! Register now for this Saturday's fun fun

All walkers and runners who complete the SWAS Wespine Fun Run this Saturday will have a medal waiting for them at the finish line, with cash prizes for those who are fastest in their category.

But the best prize of all is good health, says GenesisCare Interventional Cardiologist Dr Allison Morton who will be competing in the family-friendly event with her two sons.

“It is important for heart health for everyone to stay as fit as possible,” Dr Morton said.

“Simple goals are a useful way to stay motivated so training for a fun run in the local community improves people’s own health but also helps support a local cause.”

GenesisCare is one of a number of local organisations which get behind the South West Academy of Sport-organised community event.

Each year, the fun run sees people of all ages race around Bunbury’s Leschenault Inlet as individuals or in the company of their family, friends and colleagues.

SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion said the fun run was designed so that both children and adults could take part.

“One of the great aspects of this event is seeing members of the community including families come together and take positive steps towards leading a healthy, active lifestyle,” Ms Butlion said.

There are cash prizes up for grabs in 10km run, 5km run and 5km walk categories for both juniors and seniors.

There is also a special 2km run for school students who want to experience the achievement of competing in a fun run. The school with the most number of entrants will win $500, thanks to Global Diagnostics.
