Winning support of sports organisation officially recognised

At the South West Academy of Sport, the most valuable players aren’t only the ones you see on the sports field – they are also those providing support behind the scenes.

Among them are sponsors, including GWN7 which was recently presented with a trophy in recognition of its long-term sponsorship of the academy.

SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion said GWN7 had helped to elevate the profile of the not-for-profit organisation and its athletes.

“I wish to express my sincere gratitude to GWN7 for supporting SWAS over several years to increase the awareness of SWAS support programs, which assists young athletes in their daily training environment through specialised support services and coaching,” she said.

“We really appreciate the TV coverage of GWN7 in our region and we look forward to working together with GWN7 to continue to highlight the successes of regional athletes and their involvement in sport.”

GWN7 West Australian sales manager David Emerson said GWN7 and SWAS were a perfect fit.

“We enjoy being able to share the stories of athletes across regional WA, promoting their achievements and success,” he said.

“We’ll continue to use our great platform to tell the organisation’s stories and lend a hand.”

SWAS offers talent development pathways for aspiring young sports men and women in the region, providing high-level support including access to support services to athletes in its partner sports and individual athlete programs.

The academy’s athletes have gone on to compete on some of sport’s biggest stages including the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and AFL.
