Prizes for school with most entrants in annual SWAS Telstra Fun Run

Local students can put their school in the running to win prizes by signing up to be part of this year’s SWAS Telstra Fun Run.

The primary school with the most number of entrants in the annual race around Bunbury’s Leschenault Inlet will win $500 plus a surprise from Telstra.

Youngsters wanting to compete for fun and the chance to reward their school will have the choice of completing the course in a number of categories when the event is held on Saturday March 17.

The 10, five and two kilometre run as well as the five kilometre walk are all set to be popular with participants.

The event is organised by the South West Academy of Sport and the organisation’s chief executive officer Bernice Butlion said the family-friendly event had grown in popularity every year it had been held.

“This is our fourth year and we’re aiming for it to be our biggest and best yet,” she said.

“We encourage runners and walkers of all ages and athletic ability to join in the fun of this community event.

“There are cash prizes and a free sausage sizzle to look forward to, as well as the satisfaction of helping a not-for-profit youth sporting organisation.”

All funds raised will support SWAS which provides South West teenagers with local opportunities to develop their talents and achieve their goals on the sports field.

The SWAS Telstra Fun Run is supported by Telstra and the Chefs Long Table Lunch.
