It’s time to start warming up for this year’s SWAS Wespine Fun Run.
Entries have opened for the seventh annual event, ahead of this year’s challenge taking place on Saturday March 20 along the Ridley Place Foreshore in Australind.
The event is open to all community members with categories to suit juniors and seniors, walkers and runners, as well as enthusiasts and serious competitors.
And the best part is – there is a medal for every finisher, with cash prizes up for grabs.
Categories include a 10km run, 5km run, and 5km walk. A special 2km run for school students gives youngsters the opportunity to experience the achievement of competing in a fun run.
Wespine managing director Patrick Warrand said the softwood sawmiller was excited to be getting behind the fun run for a second consecutive year.
“A healthy mind and body is so important for everyone and we will once again be promoting the fun run to our employees and their families,” Mr Warrand said.
“Wespine will be running an inter-department mini competition across our site to further encourage employees to enter.”
SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion encouraged people to take up the chance to get active and enjoy the fresh air while having some fun in good company.
“We encourage you to get your family, friends and colleagues together – and take up the challenge of completing a fun run together,” Butlion said.
“The event is family-friendly and we encourage parents to run or walk with their children – prams welcome.”
