First 100 to register get a free event t-shirt
The first 100 people to sign up for this year’s SWAS Telstra Fun Run will be winners before they even step up to the starting line.
The South West Academy of Sport is giving away prizes in the form of free event t-shirts to those who are the quickest to register for the annual race around Bunbury’s Leschenault Inlet.
To be held on Saturday March 17, the community sporting event will once again offer people of all ages and abilities the chance to compete.
People can enter the 10, five or two kilometre run as well as the five kilometre walk in junior or senior categories – all of which will have cash prizes up for grabs.
Prizes donated by Telstra will be awarded to the school with the most entrants.
SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion said the event had grown each year it had been held, with a record number of people participating last year.
“Whether you are a serious runner or want to have a go just for fun, everyone is welcome to take part in this event that aims to encourage a healthy lifestyle and community spirit,” she said.
“The event is family-friendly, and prams and young children are welcome.”
All proceeds from the professionally timed event will go towards supporting SWAS, which provides local athletes with talent development opportunities in the region as they aspire to achieve on sport’s biggest stages.
The fourth SWAS Telstra Fun Run is being made possible by Telstra and the Chefs Long Table Lunch.
