Great vibes, big crowds for annual event
The SWAS Telstra Fun Run continues to grow in popularity, with this year’s event once again attracting a record field of runners and walkers.
Almost 300 members of the community joined in the annual all ages and abilities race along Bunbury’s Leschenault Inlet on Saturday March 16, completing 2km, 5km and 10km courses.
SWAS chief executive office Bernice Butlion said the increase in numbers was fueled by primary and high school students getting behind the event.
Bunbury Primary School was the school with the most number of entrants and received a $500 cash and technology prize from Telstra for their support,” she said.
“And a large number of our SWAS athletes also competed – they were easy to spot in their SWAS uniforms, as were the first 100 to sign up for the event in their SWAS singlets.”
The event made possible through the support of a number of volunteers, supporters and sponsors.
Sponsors and supporters included Telstra, Tint-A-Car, Café Bean, Aqwest, City of Bynbury, Department of Local Government, and Sport and Cultural Industries.
