Prize for school with most entrants in this Saturday's fun run
Students across the greater Bunbury area are encouraged to help their school win a prize by competing in this Saturday’s SWAS Telstra Fun Run.
The school with the most students entered in the event will receive a $500 cash and technology prize from Telstra.
And it’s not only schools in the running to win prizes, with junior entrants themselves having the chance to get their hands on a bicycle donated by Melo Velo.
In addition, cash prizes will be awarded to all junior and senior place holders.
Children aged 10 and under can have a go by taking part in the popular two kilometre run, which was introduced last year for the first time.
And those aged 11 to 16 years are able to enter the junior category in a number of walking and running categories including the 10km run, 5km run and 5km walk.
Heralded as the fun run for all ages and abilities, the annual race at the Leschenault Inlet features a number of walking and running categories including the 10km run, 5km run and 5km walk. All those who enter have the chance of winning a $250 Tint A Car voucher as a lucky draw prize.
SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion encouraged parents to come along and cheer on their children and also enter the event themselves.
“This is an opportunity to get kids involved from a young age – just come along and have a go,” she said.
“The event is very family-friendly. Whether you are walking or running, or participating in a junior or senior category – we encourage you to come along and join in the fun. Prams are welcome.”
The SWAS Telstra Fun Run Inlet, now in its fifth year, takes place on Saturday March 16 and includes both junior and senior categories. There will be a coffee van onsite.
