Mark Worthington shares story with next potential stars
South West Academy of Sport athletes have been given the opportunity to learn from one of the best in the form of two-time Olympian Mark Worthington.
As part of a new SWAS workshop series featuring guest speakers, the South West Slammers head coach is providing young athletes with insight into his journey as a former professional basketballer with a remarkable playing career spanning 335 games in the NBL.
Worthington was the first to share his story in the Southern Ports-sponsored series, which kicked off this Monday October 26. He will speak at a second event being held for SWAS athletes at Maker + Co on Monday November 2.
SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion said the academy took a holistic approach to the development of its athletes.
“This workshop series takes a more hands on approach, offering up real-life experience,” Butlion said.
Nutrition will be the focus of a future workshop with sports dietician Fiona Collins.
