Finishes this year’s School Sport Australia national swimming championships on the podium

Australind teenager Kyle Lee did Western Australia proud when he represented the state at a recent national swimming competition, securing a silver medal for his hard work in the pool.

The 16-year-old South West Academy of Sport athlete was among the talented junior swimmers who contested this year’s School Sport Australia national swimming championships in Tasmania.

Joining some of the country’s most promising talents in the water at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre last month, the Bunbury Catholic College student proved he could mix it with the best in the 13 to 19 age category by earning silver in the 1500m freestyle event.

“It was very cold over there but it was very exciting and I had a great time,” Lee said.

Since returning from the Apple Isle, Lee’s success has continued with a first place finish in the 200m backstroke at the Swimming WA State Open SC Championships among his achievements.

No stranger to competing at a high level, the Bunbury Swimming Club member has put himself to the test at a number of School Sport Australia events over the years and aims to one day compete at an international level.
