Continued support welcomed by Academy

South West Academy of Sport athletes put in the hard yards when it comes to training and competition – and now they have access to a device that will help soothe their sore muscles.

Intersport Bunbury has donated a Theragun Pro to SWAS as part of the sports store’s ongoing support of local athletes.

The device offers deep muscle treatment, helping to enhance muscle recovery, release stress and tension, and soothe discomfort.

SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion welcomed the donation, saying it will support athletes to recuperate after a hard session.

“Intersport Bunbury has long been a valued supporter of SWAS. When we’ve called on them over the years, they’ve put their hand up for vouchers – and we appreciate their latest contribution,” Butlion said.

“It’s fantastic to see the local community getting behind young South West athletes and providing them with the support to achieve their goals.”

Intersport Bunbury manager Alan Cartledge said SWAS was an organisation the store saw the value in getting behind.

“SWAS is a good program in that it allows South West athletes to get exposed to that elite environment, giving them the opportunity to see if they want to go beyond,” Cartledge said.

“And they get that exposure locally, rather than having to go to Perth all the time which unfortunately country kids have to do a lot.

“I think the expertise they are getting through Bernice and local coaches is fantastic to see and it is just another opportunity for us to help local athletes.”
