Great vibe, plenty to smile about
This year’s SWAS Wespine Fun Run attracted an enthusiastic field of competitors to the Ridley Place Foreshore in Australind on Saturday March 20.
Runners and walkers of all ages took up the opportunity to compete in the annual event, which has grown in popularity in the seven years it has been held.
The event caters for children to enthusiasts and serious competitors, with families able to complete the course together. All finishers receive a medal for their efforts, with prizes given to placegetters and lucky draws for participants.
SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion said the not-for-profit organisation had once again received positive feedback from participants who sung the praises of the fun, family-friendly event including the new location in Australind next to a playground.
“It’s a great event with a great vibe – and we’ll be back again next year,” Butlion said.
The 10km run was won by Perth holidaymaker James Smith, while Bunbury Senior High School student Jessie Hollins took out the 5km run.
