Preparing to race in junior elite

Dylan Rush is burning rubber at the Bunbury track and at home in Binningup as he prepares to take a major leap forward in his racing career.

Next year, the South West Academy of Sport athlete will make the move into junior elite, edging him closer to achieving his goal of turning pro.

“I’m just building up now and getting ready for the new age group I’m going to be racing,” he said.

Though this coming season will be the first time the 15-year-old Australind Senior High School student has competed in the junior elite category, the speedster is no stranger to mixing it with some of the planet’s best.

He has twice represented Australia at the UCI BMX World Championships − firstly at Rock Hill, USA in 2017, and most recently at Baku, Azerbaijan in June this year.

He said he enjoyed both stints on the world stage.

“It’s always good to meet new people and race against dudes from different countries,” Rush said.
