Hockeyroos offer guidance to SWAS athletes

If you want to be the best, it helps to be coached by the best.

And at the South West Academy of Sport, hockey athletes are fortunate to receive guidance from those familiar with elite levels of the game.

Not only do the junior talents benefit from having former Hockeyroos assistant coach Nicole Arrold as their regular coach, they were also recently fortunate to be trained by the very people coaching some of their idols.

The Kookaburras coaching team took charge of a SWAS hockey training session in December when the Australian men’s hockey team were in Bunbury in the lead-up to Tokyo 2020.

The clinic gave junior talents a chance to sharpen their skills and receive insight into the game.

Arrold said it was fantastic to have the Kookaburras coaching team share their time and knowledge with up-and-coming local athletes.

“They are coaching the best team in the world,” Arrold said.

“They were so kind to share their knowledge and had a great rapport with the kids.”
