Administration office a great base for developing tomorrow's champions
Athletes might train and compete on the sports field, but in the business of sports administration it’s what takes place in the office that matters.
And thanks to ongoing support from the City of Bunbury, the South West Academy of Sport continues to have a well-positioned base located within the South West Sports Centre.
From here, the academy’s staff members work behind the scenes on the day-to-day running of the academy, which provides valuable assistance to tomorrow’s champions.
City of Bunbury acting manager sport and recreation James Shepherd said the City was pleased to support and promote sport in the community through its backing of SWAS.
“It’s about the South West working together to provide opportunities for young people in the region,” he said.
SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion thanked the City for its support.
“It’s fantastic to be located within a multi-sports facility that provides our athletes with access to the sports facilities essential to the academy’s operations,” she said.
Since 2008, SWAS has provided young South West sports men and women with access to high performance training programs and support services in the region they call home, reducing the need to travel to Perth.
