On course for the national championships
Potential future AFLW star Beth Schilling has hit the ground running in 2021, having recommenced training in early January in preparation for what is shaping up to be another milestone year for the Carey Park product.
The teenager is looking to build on her achievements from last season which included making her WAFL colts debut with Peel Thunder, with a clear pathway illuminated to higher representative levels.
The 17-year-old is on course to showcase her skills at the national championships on the Gold Coast in April having locked in a position in the WA 2021 AFLW Under 19 National Champion Squad.
The event represents another stepping stone on the elite football pathway for the South West Academy of Sport athlete, who has also been nominated for selection to a national academy.
“For me, the main goal is just to play as best as I can and see how far I can possibly go, even if it is not AFLW, just try and push my hardest,” Schilling said.
The uniqueness of the game is what Schilling loves about Australian Rules football.
“It doesn’t matter what position you play, there is always ways you can contribute to the game and find some sort of satisfaction from it,” Schilling said.
