Lauren Reynolds will be on home turf when she competes in the third round of the WA State Super Series BMX Championships at Bunbury later this month.
The BMX champion and South West Academy of Sport scholarship holder is among a number of world, national and State-ranked riders set to burn up the track at the Bunbury BMX Club over January 16 and 17.
Run over eight rounds, the competition is the premier BMX series in Western Australia, with the Bunbury event leading in to the State Championships at Perth in February and the National Championships at Shepparton in May.
Bunbury BMX Club president Tim Wakeling said with many entrants working towards the State titles, the event was a highlight of the local BMX calendar.
“All of the riders love to come to the Bunbury round of the State Super Series because of the atmosphere and the track,” he said.
“The close racing along with the thrills and spills make it a great weekend for riders and spectators alike.
“The profile of the sport has taken a big leap forward following its successful Olympic debut so we expect this event to be the biggest the club has hosted in its 36 year history.”
