Businesses and community organisations across the region have an exciting opportunity to support South West athletes in their pursuit of sporting excellence.

The South West Academy of Sport is giving groups the chance to sponsor one of six trophies at its inaugural awards night.

The SWAS Sports Star Awards will recognise the top sports men and women in the academy’s Australian Rules football, basketball, hockey, soccer and individual athlete programs. Awards will also be presented to the SWAS Athlete of the Year and Emerging Champion.

The glamorous, red carpet event will take place at the All Seasons Sanctuary Golf Resort on Friday December 4 and feature prominent guest speakers.

Sponsors will be recognised for their support with naming rights to an award of their choice, the opportunity to present their award, two tickets to the black tie dinner, and recognition in the SWAS newsletter and website. The event will receive exposure in the media.

SWAS chief executive Bernice Butlion encouraged businesses and community organisations to take up the opportunity to be part of the awards night.

“The academy is helping local sports talents reach their potential by giving them local access to the type of high performance talent development programs that had previously only been available in the Perth and metropolitan areas,” she said.

“Because of the academy, an increasing number of athletes from the South West are competing at international events and representing the State in competition.

“Businesses and community organisations which sponsor the awards night will help the academy highlight the achievements of its inaugural athletes.

“Other benefits for sponsors include recognised partnership with sporting achievement and excellence in the region.”
